Family Engagement

Family & Community Engagement Events

At Glasllwch we value the partnership we have between home and school; it is vital if children are to flourish and reach their full potential. It is through this partnership and working together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and support, that we can provide the best for our children in order that they are happy, enriched and achieve success.

Please find below an overview of our Family & Community Engagement Events for this academic year. We hope you are able to attend these events in order to support and celebrate your child’s progress in learning.

Parent / Carer Workshops

Throughout each academic year we run a variety of workshops for parents and carers which cover a number of themes, including: e-Safety, Maths, RSE, Transition, Growth Mindset and Reading. These sessions provide parents and carers with important information enabling them to further support their child as they progress through our school.

Parent / Teacher Consultations

Formal parent consultations are held twice a year, once in the Autumn Term and once in the Spring Term. Teachers or the Headteacher are available at the end of most days to talk to parents if there are any concerns.

Curriculum Information

Class curriculum information is posted on the school website on Class Project pages at the beginning of each project, informing parents of the areas of learning being covered. These outline learning ahead so that parents can support their children’s learning at home.

Curriculum Celebrations

Parents are invited to join with us for celebrations and concerts throughout the year. Such events include: Christmas concerts, musical evenings, end of year performances and year group specific Curriculum Celebrations. Parents/carers are also invited to a ‘Sharing Event’ during the Summer Term to look at curriculum developments and the variety of work their children have done during the year.

Learning Conversations

In the summer term we invite parents/carers into school to hold learning conversations with their child. During these sessions parents/carers spend some time with their child looking at their books and talking with them about some of the activities and experiences they have engaged in during the academic year. The children will have the opportunity to share with their adult the learning they have enjoyed, what they are most proud of and also, for our older learners, how they have developed as a learner during the year.

Reports

Formal reports on children’s progress are sent out in the Summer Term. Next steps in learning are shared and parents who wish to do so are invited to discuss these with the class teachers.

We believe involving parents and carers in their child's learning journey is vital. Throughout each academic year we invite our school community into school for a variety of engagement events to share learning and celebrate success.
