Welcome to the Summer Term in Reception!
We cannot believe that we have reached our final half term of the year already! The children are starting to get ready for Year 1 and will be meeting their new teacher soon!
This half term, Nursery and Reception are teaming together for a transition project on CARNIVALS. This week, the children have been discussing what they already know about carnivals and have been thinking of questions that they would like to find out, and activities that they would like to do during our project.
Nursery and Reception will be completing some activities together and have decided that they would like to host their very own carnival in school. We LOVE this idea and are hoping to confirm a date soon!
As we have only just started our project, we have been listening to the children’s ideas and will send our curriculum letter once we have sorted through all their amazing questions and ideas!
Here are some of the questions that the children have asked:
Can we make our very own carnival masks?
Can we have our own carnival?
I want to learn a carnival song!
Can we dance like they do in carnivals?
Let’s make costumes like the ones they wear in a carnival!
Are there any carnivals near our school?
Can I have a whistle like the one in the carnival video that we watched?
If you have an area of expertise in any of the above – please come and see us!
P.E will be every WEDNESDAY afternoon!
Please bring your child’s PE Kit into school on Wednesdays.
Now that the weather is warming up, P.E. will be outdoors. Please bring your child’s PE trainers/shoes into school every week.
We will listen to your child read twice a week in school (usually Monday and Thursday). This term we will be focusing on reading PM books and developing understanding, retelling and prediction skills. PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR CHILD BRINGS THEIR FOLDER TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY. We will put any school related letters inside their folders too so check them daily!
Please come and see us if you have any questions or queries.
Miss Edwards, Mrs Parker and Mrs Begum.
