Outdoor Learning
Explore and Discover Through Outdoor Learning
Through a variety of outdoor learning opportunities children are given the time, freedom and space to explore and discover whilst undertaking planned, structured and well supervised activities. These opportunities incorporate all aspects of the curriculum.
Outdoor learning fosters a ‘can do’ ethos and provides a flexible approach which allows for individuality. There are many positive effects of learning outdoors, for example, increasing the children’s confidence, promoting team work, developing speaking and listening skills. Outdoor learning also teaches the children to be more environmentally aware, developing an understanding of how the natural world works and how important their role is in looking after it; developing them as ethically informed citizens.
We are very fortunate to have a fantastic school grounds which we use for outdoor learning, including a woodland setting, story circle, log cabin and large field area. We aim to deliver a safe, secure and stimulating outdoor learning experience for all children.
