New School Roof – Health & Safety

1 Sept 2024
It has been a busy time here is school over the summer break whilst Newport Norse contractors have been replacing the lower school roof. The work being undertaken involves stripping and replacement of: the roof, skylights, fascias, soffits, cladding and drain pipes. This work has been much needed for a number of years so we are delighted to see the project underway.
The roof replacement will be continuing into the first few weeks of term so there will be some changes to drop off and pick up arrangements whilst the contractors are on site to ensure everyone’s health and safety. Please adhere to the following:
All children are to remain with an adult on the school yard before and after the school day.
Children must not be allowed near to or behind the fenced areas of the building site.
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children will enter and exit through the Foundation Phase door.
Year 3 and Year 4 children will enter and exit through the hall door.
Year 5 and Year 6 children will enter as usual through the Year 5/6 door.
During the school day, children on the yard for break and lunch time will be well supervised at all times by the staff on duty.
Whilst the scaffolding is in place around the back of the building, all children will be prevented from accessing the outside learning areas behind the school. These areas will be inaccessible to ensure the health and safety of the children and staff. We anticipate this only being for the first week of the school term.
Please be reassured that thorough risk assessments have been put in place to ensure the health and safety of everyone on the school site.
