Year 1 Visit to St. Fagan’s
Today, Year 1 visited St. Fagan's National Museum where they learnt about how homes and toys have changed over time. They had a brilliant time and learnt lots to help them continue their curriculum project after half-term. Thanks to all those who helped out on the trip – your support is appreciated!
Hedgehog Visit to Year 2
This week Year 2 had a visit from Sue a hedgehog specialist, they learnt all about Hedgehogs and how people can look after them. Once again, we are pleased to be engaging with local community groups.
Twmbarlwm - Diolch!
A MASSIVE thank you to all the friends and family who sponsored the Y5 children on their Twmbarlwm walk! They have raised over £1100! This money will support Bullies Out charity who provide valuable training for our Year 5 Playground Pals, St. David's Hospice who regularly support our whole school events, The Alfie Nick Foundation, who are currently working with our Year 5 pupils, and contribute towards our engagement with Ballet Cymru later this term. Diolch pawb!
Rugby Success!
Earlier this week our Rugby Team took part in the Newport Schools Autumn Shield tournament at Caerleon RFC. The team did really well in their first tournament, finishing 4th out of 11 teams. They won one game, drew one, and lost two. Despite the results, they played exceptionally well throughout the tournament, putting in some big tackles and scoring some brilliant team tries. The players showed great teamwork, determination, and effort, making it a fantastic first tournament experience.
Our Language of Learning
As a school we continue to proactively develop the children’s effectiveness as learners, including implementing our ‘Language of Learning’ to support children in reflecting on and articulating strategies which help them to learn. Within school we promote a culture of learning, encouraging children to talk confidently about their learning and how they are developing as a learner. Our Language of Learning helps the children to recognise successful learning behaviours, verbalise these and apply them with increasing independence as they progress through the school.
Reading News!
The partnership between home and school is invaluable, and we greatly appreciate the way families encourage and support reading outside of school. Together, we can help every child become a confident, enthusiastic reader and foster a lifelong love of learning. Please read our Reading Newsletter.

Llongyfarchiadau to all of the children who took part in the Newport Library Summer Reading Challenge this year! Newport Library attended our assembly this week to award those children who managed to read six books over the holidays with a certificate and medal! Da iawn pawb!
