Twmbarlum Sponsored Walk
Today Year 5 have had a fantastic time embarking on their sponsored walk! As a class they have been to Cwmcarn Forest Drive, where they have climbed Twmbarlwm to raise money to support our Gwent Music projects within school. We are so proud of all the children for their effort and determination it was wonderful to see them supporting each other and working as a team. Da iawn pawb!
A huge thank you to all the parents who were able to help us today and of course to all the friends and family who have sponsored this worthwhile event! Diolch!
Guide Dogs Visit
Year 1 have had a visit from our local Guide Dogs charity group which was very exciting! They have been learning all about how guide dogs became guide dogs and what they do. The children loved the experience and are looking forward to making and selling Guide Dog glove puppets to raise money for this important charity.
As a school we are continuing to develop community partnerships to ensure our curriculum is purposeful and relevant. If you are aware of community organisations who would be willing to come into school to work with the children please speak to your child’s teacher. Thank you!
PTA Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Our PTA AGM will take place on Tuesday 1st October in school at 5pm. Glasllwch has an excellent PTA who work very hard to organise events to raise money for our children. The PTA really does need your support to ensure it continues to be a success. All parents are automatically members of the PTA so please come along and join us!
EAS Partner School
This year we will be continuing our role as a Partner School with the regional consortia, the Education Achievement Service (EAS). This collaboration involves staff supporting schools across the EAS as a Regional Professional Learning Lead School, a Literacy Lead School and as Cluster Enquiry Lead.
Extra-curricular Activities
We are pleased to have our Autumn Term clubs up and running, offering a variety of extra-curricular activities for the children, including: Y3-6 Choir, Y5/6 Rugby, Y1/2 Craft Club, Y5/6 Netball, Y5/6 Football.
Clubs will run on a term by term basis. Children must be collected from after school clubs, they are not allowed to walk home without an adult.
A HUGE thank you to all the staff for providing these additional activities for the children. Also a MASSIVE thank you to Mr Hill for offering to run our football club – your support is much appreciated. Diolch!
Colorfoto
Colorfoto were in school this week taking individual and sibling photos. We will let you know when the photos are available to view and how to place your order.
We were delighted to hear from the photographer how impressed they were by the all the children’s manners and behaviour! It really is lovely to hear such positive feedback – well done everyone!
Attendance
Our target this year is to achieve 96% attendance. We can only do this with your support!
Good attendance at school is vital if your child is to achieve their full potential. We monitor individual pupil attendance on a regular basis and will contact you if your child’s attendance dips below our target.
Congratulations Year 1 who have the highest attendance for September – 98.6% da iawn!
All holidays should be taken during the school holidays and not in term time. Any planned absence from school must be requested in writing. Please use the Absence Request Form on the school website under Online Office. Such requests will be considered on an individual basis.
Jewellery Reminder
A reminder that for safety reasons the policy of the school is that children are only allowed to wear a watch and stud earrings, no other jewellery should be worn. Also, children are responsible for their own jewellery and for taking it on and off for P.E. All jewellery must be removed for these sessions.
