News Update – Friday 14th February ’25

14 Feb 2025

Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day took place on 8th February so in school we have been learning all about remaining safe online. The children have been engaging in a variety of age appropriate learning activities and assemblies to remind them of the importance of Cyber Safety. These celebrations promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.

Please support us in continuing this focus at home, taking care to check the security and privacy settings on your child’s device. Thank you!

Reminder – we have an E-Safety Workshop for parents and carers organised for Monday 17th March 4-5pm. We encourage you to attend this session.

Year 3 Curriculum Celebration

A HUGE well done to Year 3 for their fantastic Curriculum Celebration yesterday with parents/carers. The children took great pride in sharing their learning experiences. They performed their class Eisteddfod entry ‘The Golden Harp’ and shared their learning through teaching their families some of the skills they have learnt – classification of animals, camouflaging a book character and drawing habitats! Da iawn and diolch!

We look forward to the Nursery (AM) Curriculum Celebration on Wednesday 12th March (10.30am) and the Year 5 Curriculum Celebration on Thursday 20th March (2:30pm).

Safeguarding

The safety and protection of our children is one of our main aims. Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and procedures are reviewed annually and are published on our school website under ‘Online Office’. All staff and governors receive annual update training with Mrs Munslow and Mrs Zahr. Our Safeguarding Governors, Mrs Anthony and Mrs Hyland also receive regular higher-level training.

Our Wellbeing Ambassadors have developed a child friendly safeguarding policy to support children in this area (see below). This has been shared with all children during whole school assemblies and is displayed on pupil noticeboards throughout school.

Staffing Changes in Y4

We are pleased to inform you that Mrs Lane will be returning from maternity leave on Monday 3rd March, taking on the role of Year 4 classroom teacher.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank Miss Morgan who has done a fantastic job in Year 4. She has developed positive relationships with the children and has worked tirelessly to ensure the children have engaged in rich learning experiences. Thank you, Miss Morgan, you will be missed.

World Book Day

This year we will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 6th March. We would love to see the children dressed as their favourite book character, bringing the book their character is from into school to share with their peers in the class.

We are hoping to have another ‘Book Swap’ to celebrate World Book Day, allowing all children to go home with a book to enjoy. In order to do this we are asking all children to bring in one old book that they would be willing to donate.

PTA Update

This week the Reception to Year 2 children enjoyed a Film Night with their friends! Thank you everyone who helped out and supported this event. We couldn’t do it without you! All money raised is used to benefit the children in school. We appreciate this additional, much needed funding. Thank you!

Also, a big thank you to all those parents/carers who attended our PTA meeting on Tuesday this week. We reflected on the Autumn Term events and thought ahead to the Spring and Summer Terms. There certainly are a lot of events to look forward to! Please do support our school PTA by getting involved in the planning and running of these events.

  • Quiz Night – Friday 21st March

  • Smarties Challenge – Friday 4th April

  • Silent Disco – 9th May

  • Break the Rules Day- 23rd May

  • Summer Fayre – 4th July

Next PTA Meeting – Tuesday 29th April 6pm. Please come along and get involved. We will need plenty of help to make the Summer Fayre a success!
