School News – Friday 12th June ‘26

12 Jun 2026

We are well into the second half of the summer term and the children have been participating in new and exciting authentic contexts for learning. The children are enjoying being involved in developing their own project ideas and having a say in what and how they would like to learn. They continue to develop their literacy, numeracy and digital competence skills as well as their subject knowledge across a range of curriculum areas.

John Frost School Sports

Year 4 had a fantastic time at their sports transition morning at The John Frost School. The children embraced the opportunity to experience a variety of activities, while getting a taste of secondary school life. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, teamwork, and determination as they tackled new skills and enjoyed friendly competition. Fantastic! Diolch The John Frost School!

Visit to Newport Central Jam'e Masjid Mosque

It has been fantastic to see the children continuing to take part in first-hand trips and visits during this term, in order to enhance authentic learning experiences. This week, Year 1 and 2 went to visit Newport Central Jam'e Masjid Mosque. They had a tour of the mosque and learnt all about the different parts of a mosque. They learnt about key Islamic beliefs and why people go to a mosque. Thank you to all our parent helpers who helped with the visit.

Playground Safety

Once again - in the interest of safety, children are not allowed to use the timber trail, run up and down the grass bank, or play ball games before and after school.  Your support in encouraging your child to remain on the playground at these times is much appreciated. Thank you!
