Senedd Glasllwch

Involving learners in realising our school vision and aims is a fundamental aspect of our philosophy and approach to pupil participation. One of the mechanisms through which learners are empowered to shape their school experience is through Senedd Glasllwch. Senedd Glasllwch provides learners from across the school with the opportunity to express their views about school life in a forum where they will be listened to and action taken when appropriate. Each group meets on a regular basis, with a supporting adult, to develop ideas and actions linked to their action plan targets.

Tennis Festival

This week some of the Year 3 children had the opportunity to take part in a Tennis Festival at Newport International Sports Village. They had a fabulous time developing their tennis skills. Thank you to those parents who helped with transporting the children – your support is much appreciated. Diolch.

Reading at Home

At Glasllwch Primary School we believe learning to read is a fundamental skill which sits at the heart of every child’s learning, supporting their progress in every area of the curriculum. To help your child grow in confidence and develop strong lifelong habits, please spend a little time reading together each day at home and remember to fill in their reading diary so we can celebrate their progress in school. A gentle reminder that all children should bring their reading book and diary to school every day, as regular practice makes a real difference to their learning journey. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Cardiff Metropolitan University Partnership

As a school we have a well-established partnership with Cardiff Met. University, supporting the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme for their PGCE students. Next week two PGCE students will be joining us for their second Clinical Practice placement; they will be based in Reception and Year 4.  Whilst the students are placed with us they will be well supported by their class mentors and Senior Mentor, Mrs Zahr, to ensure continuation of high-quality teaching and learning.  We look forward to welcoming them to Glasllwch.

Welsh Phrase of the Week

‘Mae flin ‘da fi.’ – ‘I’m sorry.’

Upcoming Dates

Diary dates for the week ahead can also be found on our home page. Please visit our school calendar to access diary dates for the year ahead. We will continue to add dates to the calendar as we move through the school year.

Enjoy a restful and relaxing weekend.
