Cardiff Bay Experience
This week Year 4 visited Cardiff Bay. They had a boat tour of the bay, a guided waterfront walk, visited the Pierhead Building, and went to Mount Stuart Primary school to learn about Betty Campbell. They had a fabulous day learning about the history of Cardiff Bay and the importance of significant landmarks in the area. The children will continue to build on this learning back in school through their enquiry project. Thank you to all our parent helpers for joining us.
Reception visit to Greenmeadow Community Farm
Today, Reception went to visit Greenmeadow Farm in Cwmbran. While they were at the farm, they spent time learning about the animals and taking part in a milking demonstration and workshop. They also enjoyed playing in the park, having a tractor ride and exploring the farm. The children had a fantastic time! A huge thank you to the parents who supported us with this trip.
PTA Update
This week the children have enjoyed PTA Film Nights with their friends! Thank you everyone who helped out and supported this event. We couldn’t do it without you! All money raised is used to benefit the children in school. We appreciated this additional, much needed funding. Thank you!
The next PTA meeting will be held in school on Tuesday 21st April at 6pm – please do come along and get involved. Everyone is welcome!
Wellbeing Ambassadors Kindness Challenge
In school, our Wellbeing Ambassadors are working towards their action plan targets for this academic year. Each month they will be setting a Kindness Challenge for families, shared via the News Update.
February’s Kindness Challenge…
To make up a game and invite family and friends to play the game.
Welsh Phrase of the Week
‘Ble rwyt ti’n byw? Dw i’n byw yng Nhasnewydd’ - ‘Where do you live? I live in Newport.’
School Uniform Reminder
As a school we take pride in our school uniform and consider it an important aspect of our school ethos and vision. We have noticed that a minority of children are wearing items of clothing and shoes that are not part of our agreed school uniform. We ask that all children wear school uniform and school shoes to school. Thank you for your continued support.
Below is a reminder of our agreed school uniform from the School Prospectus which can be found in the Online Office on our school website.
School Uniform:
Grey trousers, skirt or pinafore dress, purple sweatshirt or sweat cardigan, gold polo shirt, white or grey socks/tights and black shoes. In the summer, grey shorts and gold polo shirts or yellow/purple gingham dresses would be most welcome.
P.E. Kit:
It is also important that all children wear the correct school kit on PE days. Navy blue or black shorts and a white T-shirt and trainers for use outside. They will also need a black track-suit or joggers for wearing outside when the weather is cold.
Upcoming Dates
Diary dates for the week ahead can also be found on our home page. Please visit our school calendar to access diary dates for the year ahead. We will continue to add dates to the calendar as we move through the school year.
Reminder – Friday 13th February is an INSET Day so school will be closed to children.
Thank you for all your support again so far this term. We value the partnership we have between home and school. It is vital if children are to flourish and to reach their full potential.
Have a restful and relaxing weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs J. Munslow
