School News - Friday 6th March ‘26

6 Mar 2026
It has been another busy and exciting week in school. These are some of the highlights…
World Book Day
Yesterday we celebrated World Book Day in school. The children dressed up as their favourite character from a book – they looked absolutely fantastic. We had some amazing characters in school! The children enjoyed engaging in a variety of World Book Day activities and taking part in our Glasllwch Book Swap. Well done to everyone who took part and supported this event! Diolch! As always, Miss Summers did a brilliant job organising the day – diolch!
Year 5 Visit Clifton Suspension Bridge
On Friday, Year 5 visited Clifton Suspension Bridge as part of their class enquiry project ‘What was life like in the Victorian era?’. During their visit the children had a tour of the Bridge and engaged in a workshop about the history and construction on the bridge. The children thoroughly enjoyed the visit and are excited about continuing their learning during the remainder of the term. A BIG thank you to those parents who helped make the visit a success. Diolch!
Table Tennis Wales
On Tuesday, four of our Year 4 children took part in a Table Tennis Competition at Cwmbran Stadium. The boys had a brilliant time, competing against teams from across the region. They displayed a great level of skill and sportsmanship, with Noah and Harri coming 5th overall and Riley and Archie coming 6th overall, out of twenty teams. Da iawn pawb! A big thank you to Mrs Hall for supporting the boys throughout the day. Diolch!
Welcome Miss Smith
This week we welcomed Miss Smith, who is joining us as a Teaching Assistant. Miss Smith brings a wealth of experience of teaching and learning, including extensive knowledge of supporting pupils through interventions. Miss Smith will be working across the school. Welcome to the Glasllwch Team Miss Smith.
PTA Go Fund Me
As a school we would love to be able to install another sheltered area on the playground, offering more shelter and valuable space for outdoor learning and community events. Please support our school in raising £10,000 to pay for the installation of an additional playground shelter and additional seating for under the sheltered areas. Every penny brings us closer to creating a fantastic space for our children. Together, we can make this happen! Thank you for supporting our school community!
