Blwyddyn Newydd Dda
The children and staff have settled back into the routines of school life and we are already enjoying a very busy and exciting start to the spring term.
All year groups are working on their new projects with authentic, purposeful and relevant contexts for learning. The children are looking forward to going out and about on school trips as well as having visitors into school. These experiences enhance their learning and bring their projects to life.
Updated information about your child’s current curriculum project will be shared with you via Seesaw during next week. If you are able to share any experiences or expertise linked to your child’s project please do get in touch!
Our Enquiry Curriculum
As a school we are continually reviewing and adapting our creative, project-based curriculum with children influencing what they want to learn, how they want to learn and how they want to record their findings. Over the past year, we have been enhancing our curriculum through the introduction of an ‘enquiry approach’, giving the children opportunities to develop critical thinking and problem solving through enquiry and exploration. Our continued focus on learning through authentic contexts, alongside the introduction of enquiry questions has had a really positive impact on the quality of learning and teaching within school. We continue to evaluate and revise our projects to ensure that we have a learner-centred, skills-focused curriculum that is relevant to the 21st century and inclusive of all learners.
Through our creative curriculum we are developing learners as:
· ambitious, capable learners
· healthy, confident individuals
· ethical, informed citizens
· enterprising, creative contributors
The Literacy & Numeracy Framework (LNF) and the Digital Competency Framework (DCF) remain integral to our project-based learning, enabling children to acquire and apply skills in a variety of meaningful contexts. In each lesson, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills are discussed with the children so they are aware of the skills they are developing. Please help us by asking the children about the skills they have been focusing on in their learning each day.
Football Kit Sponsorship – DCF Psychology
A MASSIVE thank you to DCF Psychology who have funded the purchase of our NEW school football kit! It looks absolutely fantastic – we are very excited about wearing it for upcoming matches! Diolch yn fawr iawn!

Financial Literacy
As part of our curriculum focus on developing the children’s financial literacy, we are fortunate to be engaging with Money Ready charity who are doing a series of two workshops with Year 3 and Year 5 during this week and next. The children will be learning about bank accounts, budgeting, prioritising needs over wants, understanding money is finite, why people save and setting goals. They will learn about the importance of creating positive money habits, understanding interest as a reward and charge, looking at financial risks and goals.
Safety Outside of the School Gates
Please, please can we remind parents of the importance of not double parking, parking on double yellow lines or parking dangerously to drop children off or pick them up. We continue to have a number of complaints from parents who are HUGELY concerned about the health and safety of the children whilst crossing the roads. This really is a very serious issue. Vehicles parked dangerously will be reported to the police.
Thank you in anticipation of your support.
Welsh Phrase of the Week
‘Beth wyt ti’n hoffi wneud?’ – ‘What do you like to do?’

Diary dates for the week ahead can also be found on our home page. Please visit our school calendar to access diary dates for the year ahead. We will continue to add dates to the calendar as we move through the school year.
We look forward to another very productive and exciting term. Thank you in anticipation of your continued support and cooperation.
