School News - Friday 17th April ‘26

17 Apr 2026
Welcome back to the summer term! It is lovely to see the children back in school and ready to learn - we are all looking forward to another busy and exciting term!
Enquiry Curriculum
In school this term the children will continue to learn through our ‘Enquiry Curriculum'; a purpose-led, process-orientated approach to learning. Our enquiry project approach is rooted in authentic and relevant contexts, and enables the children to develop integral skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity and innovation. We look forward to sharing our curriculum projects with you through Curriculum Celebrations and Learning Conversations during the summer term.
Please look out for a curriculum update from your child’s class teacher via Seesaw. This will provide you with more information about your child’s learning this term.
Keeping Our Curriculum Under Review – Spring 2026
Thank you for taking the time to complete our Curriculum Survey; all feedback and comments made by parents have been useful and informative. We have looked closely at the responses and will use these to inform our way forward in further refining our curriculum. A summary of the actions taken as a result of your feedback can be accessed on our Stakeholder Surveys website page.
Glasllwch Primary Orchard
This week our Learning Squad and Eco-Champions have had a fantastic time planting our own school orchard! Local Authority Biodiversity Officers spent time with the children planting a variety of fruit trees. The children enjoyed learning about the different trees and how to look after them. We are looking forward to learning more about the trees during outdoor learning sessions this term. It was also lovely to hear the Biodiversity Officers commenting on how enthusiastic, careful, polite and well-behaved the children were during the planting. Da iawn pawb!
Stay and Play
It was a pleasure to welcome the very youngest members of our school community into school on Tuesday for the first of our ‘Stay and Play’ sessions. The sessions will continue on a Tuesday each week between 8:50-9:30am. Please do come along and join us.
Year 4 Curriculum Celebration
This week we have welcomed Year 4 parents/carers to our Curriculum Celebration. The children were so excited and thoroughly enjoyed sharing their learning from throughout this year. They spoke with confidence, sang with enthusiasm, and showcased their learning across all areas of the curriculum. The event really was a celebration of the children’s wonderful achievements and the fantastic progress they have made this year! Da iawn!
Y1 Gwent Music Project
This term we are pleased to have Gwent Music in school working with children in Y1. The children are taking part in a Strings Project! We look forward to watching them develop their musical skills as the term progresses.
Welsh Workshops for Parents and Carers
Criw Cymraeg have been busy in school preparing for the Reception to Year 2 Welsh Workshop ‘Siarad Cymraeg Gyda Fi’, taking place on Monday 27th April in the Year 2 classroom. The children are doing a brilliant job and are looking forward to supporting parents and carers with developing their Welsh language skills. Please do come along!
PTA Update
Our next PTA Meeting is Tuesday 21st April 6pm in school. Please come along and get involved. We will need plenty of help to make the Summer Fayre a success! School continues to rely on much needed funds raised from the PTA. Thank you!
Shelter Fundraising
Donations towards the shelter can be made using the following link: https://gofund.me/4fe7e0ffa
Please share the link with family, friends and local businesses who may like to support us. Diolch!
Warmer Weather
During the warmer weather (when it arrives) we encourage the children to wear hats on the yard and to have sun cream on when they come to school. A number of products which only need applying once a day are now available. We discourage the children from bringing sun cream to school to apply themselves, for obvious reasons! If anyone has any specific concerns about this, please don’t hesitate in contacting school to discuss this further.
Also, please make sure the children bring a drink of water to school in a refillable water bottle with a sports cap. No squash/fizzy drinks and no glass bottles please.
Attendance
We have been delighted to see a reduction in the number of children arriving late in the mornings – fantastic! Thank you for supporting us in this. Doors open for children to filter in from 8.50am. It is vital that all children are in school and in classes by 9am so they are ready to learn.
Good attendance at school is vital to ensure children make strong progress and avoid missing out on important learning opportunities. We continue to monitor attendance on an individual basis and may contact you regarding your child’s absence or lateness.
Welsh Phrase of the Week

Upcoming Dates
Diary dates for the week ahead can be found on our home page. Please visit our school calendar to access diary dates for the year ahead. We will continue to add dates to the calendar as we move through the school year.
Thank you so much for your continuing support. The partnership we have between home and school is vital in ensuring the wellbeing of our whole school community and in enabling our children to flourish and reach their full potential.
We really are very proud of our school and of all our children.
Enjoy a relaxing and restful weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs J. Munslow
