Sports Day
We are delighted that this year’s Sports Day was a fantastic success! The children took part in a wide range of events, from sprints and relays to obstacle courses and throwing competitions, showing great determination, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship throughout the day. It was heart-warming to see pupils cheering each other on and celebrating every effort and achievement. A big thank you to our wonderful PTA for keeping everyone refreshed with snacks and drinks, and to all the families who came along to support – your encouragement made the day even more special!
A special mention for St. David’s Hospice and Principality Building Society who very kindly provided gazebos for our Sports Day. Thank you so much!
Eco Award Platinum Renewal
Our Eco-Champions have been working extremely hard during this academic year to achieve their targets. These include: developing biodiversity around the school and reducing litter within the local community.
We are pleased to announce that our Eco-Champions have secured our platinum accreditation for another year! Fantastic!
It is been a busy year for the Eco-Champions who have all shown strong commitment and work ethic – da iawn to all involved! A HUGE thank you to Mrs McArdell for supporting our Eco-Champions with their valuable projects.

Safe Cycling
Well done to our Year 5 children who successfully completed their Safe Cycling training last week! The children learned essential road safety skills, including how to check their bikes, signal clearly, and ride safely and confidently on the roads. Their focus, responsibility, and positive attitude impressed the instructors – well done! We’re proud of their achievement and hope these skills will help keep them safe as they continue to enjoy cycling.
Gwent Music Strings Project
Our talented Year 1 children wowed their families with a wonderful strings performance, showcasing everything they’ve learned during their sessions with Gwent Music. After weeks of practising rhythm, technique, and teamwork, the children confidently played a selection of pieces, impressing everyone with their focus and musical progress. A big thank you to Gwent Music for their fantastic teaching and to all the parents who came along to watch the performance! Diolch!
Learning Conversations
It was wonderful to welcome so many parents and carers into school for our Learning Conversations last week. These sessions gave children the chance to proudly share their work, reflect on their progress, and talk about what they’ve enjoyed and achieved this year. Seeing families engage so positively with their child’s learning journey helps build confidence and strengthens the home-school partnership. Thank you for being part of these valuable conversations!
Summer Fayre
A huge thank you to our fantastic PTA for organising and running such a successful School Fayre last Friday! The event was packed with fun and excitement, including: music from the ‘Three o’Clock Club’, entertaining games and competitions, a visiting farm and interactive gymnastics sessions with Head Over Heels. Families enjoyed delicious food from the BBQ, tasty refreshments, and a wonderful community atmosphere throughout the afternoon. We’re SO grateful for all the hard work and dedication that went into making the fayre such a memorable event for everyone! Thank you to everyone for coming along and supporting the event!
Brilliant Baking
Last week, Year 4 were very lucky to have Mrs Roussel come into their class for the day for a baking workshop. They learnt about how chocolate can be used in different bakes and created a mini market where they made, advertised and appropriately priced their chocolate to sell at the class market. They raised over £111 for the PTA from their sale! What fantastic experience of the world of work. A huge thanks to Mrs Roussel and everyone who supported the event!
Football Tournament
Last week our Y5/6 football team took part in a football tournament at Newport Velodrome. The children played brilliantly; they won 6, drew 2 and lost one. Fantastic effort! Well done everyone!
Police Visit to Year 5
This week the children in Year 5 had a visit from the Police who brought a speeding van into school! They learnt about road safety and why it is important not to speed when driving and how to be a safe passenger. They then got to run past the speed gun and they got a certificate with their times on! We have some of the fastest runners in Newport! Da iawn pawb!
