Nursery Curriculum Celebration
This week the children in the morning Nursery held their Curriculum Celebration. This special event provided an opportunity for the children to showcase some of their learning and to demonstrate their skills, knowledge and understanding, engaging in practical activities with their adult. It was wonderful to see the children sing and dance with such confidence. A huge thank you to all those family members who attended; your ongoing support is appreciated.
Senedd Glasllwch Share with Governors
We were VERY proud of our Criw Cymraeg and Wellbeing Ambassadors who presented to our school Governing Body earlier this week. Representatives from these groups shared some of their achievements so far this academic year. Criw Cymraeg have been working hard to promote Welsh language, culture and heritage through playground games, whole school assemblies and Eisteddfod competitions. Our Wellbeing Ambassadors have been encouraging healthy eating, leading daily active sessions and leading whole school assemblies about the UNCRC. The children were brilliant! Da iawn pawb!
Year 5 Visit Big Pit
This week Year 5 went to Big Pit National Coal Museum as part of their ‘Cogs and Queens’ project. During the day they had an underground tour of the mine, took part in a ‘Servants of the Empire’ workshop and visited the mining museum. These authentic experiences will enrich the children’s learning.
Year 1 Visit Wookey Hole
This week Year 1 travelled to Wookey Hole and had a fantastic time exploring the caves, meeting the dinosaurs and experiencing a 4D cinema, as well as enjoying the soft play. Amazing!
Thank you so much to those parents who have helped out with both of these visits. Diolch.
Number Tots
This week we held the last of our Number Tots sessions for this academic year. These sessions have been really successful with positive feedback. Thank you so much to all those family members who have attended and supported the sessions. Also, a big thank you to Miss Martin and Mrs Ash who have planned and facilitated Number Tots this academic year. Diolch!
Easter Fun Day
On Friday 11th April we will be having an Easter Fun Day! We are asking the children for a £1 donation (via Parent Pay nearer the time) in exchange for wearing their own clothes for the day and having an Easter Disco in the afternoon. All children will receive an Easter Egg to take home. The children can also design and make a ‘Funky Easter Hat’ to bring into school for our Funky Hat Parade!
Comic Relief – Red Nose Day
Red Nose Day/Comic Relief will take place on Friday 21st March, and this year marks its 40th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone and support the charity, the Community Committee has planned several events. We will be encouraging everyone to wear red or something funny (funny socks, a funky hat, etc.) to raise money on the day. We will also be holding a ‘Design a Red Nose’ competition and a joke competition; details of these events will go home for home-learning today via Seesaw. Please support this worthy cause by donating via the link sent by email this week; monies go direct to the Comic Relief charity.
E-safety Meeting Reminder
As a school we have previously hosted e-Safety workshops for parents/carers in order to support families in keeping their children safe online. We have had a number of people express an interest in another of these sessions, amid increasing concerns around online safety. As a result, we have asked PC Alex Donne, from Gwent Police, to facilitate an e-safety session for parents/carers on Monday 17th March 4-5pm. We are fortunate to have PC Donne provide this important session so would encourage you to come along.
Safety Outside of the School Gates
Please, please can we remind parents of the importance of not double parking, parking on double yellow lines or parking dangerously to drop children off or pick them up. We continue to have a number of complaints from parents who are HUGELY concerned about the health and safety of the children whilst crossing the roads. This really is a very serious issue. Vehicles parked dangerously will be reported to the police.
Thank you in anticipation of your support.
